How You Can Engage
OVOS offers welcoming ways to learn, connect, and participate through research, gatherings, and community-centered collaboration.

Research & Approach
Our work is grounded in the lived experiences, knowledge, and voices of Black Muslim womxn across Canada. Guided by community-based and participatory approaches, we view storytelling not simply as a method of sharing experiences, but as a powerful tool for reflection, resistance, healing, and social change. Using a photovoice methodology, participants engage creative and visual storytelling to document their realities, identities, and relationships to community, belonging, wellness, and safety. Through this approach, we aim to foster deeper understanding while contributing to more meaningful, community-informed conversations, research practices, and pathways for change.

Gatherings & Community Moments
We create intentional community spaces that foster connection, reflection, dialogue, and collective care while introducing the vision and goals of the Our Voices, Our Stories (OVOS) research initiative. Rooted in the richness and diversity of Black Muslim communities across Canada, these gatherings invite participants to share experiences, build relationships, engage in meaningful conversation, and explore ways to contribute to and shape the research journey together.
